My Top 5 Desert Island Songs

As I worked outside last weekend painting the patio furniture, I wondered briefly if my music was bothering the neighbours.

Then I decided I really didn’t care:)

It’s is almost unheard of for me to do a project without music on. And I like it loud:) Anyone who follows DH on Twitter will be familiar with his #WakingUptheNeighbours hashtag. Good (loud) music is no stranger in our house.

And so on that note, I thought I would share my top five desert island tunes.

If I could only ever hear five songs for the rest of my life, these would be it. They are songs I have loved since I first heard them. Songs which hold many and varied memories from different stages of my life. Songs which, without fail, I will always listen to if on the radio in the car. Songs I can’t help but dance or move to. Songs that make me happy.

(p.s. They aren’t in any particular order)

This song. This is so many things. If one song could ever take me back to a moment and feeling, it’s this one.

There are a lot of Hip songs that hold special places in my heart, but this one tops them all. This is a windows open, cottage road, singing at the top of your lungs kinda song.

This voice. And in 1992 I would have said, that hair:) There is a reason one of our boys is named Eddie-Vedder. There are many Pearl Jam songs I truly love, but this one, especially live, is my favourite.

This song is so much awesome all in one. DH and I have seen more DMB concerts than I can count. And of course, it’s the Stones.

The Big Chill soundtrack is my #1 all time favourite movie soundtrack, and would definitely be on my list of top five desert island albums. But this song, track 6 from the soundtrack, is this one:

My Dad and I share a passion for Motown, so much so this song was the song we danced to for our Father-Daughter dance at my wedding.

"Sun Is Shining" is my kind of Jam! We like to listen to music on blast around here while we work too. We like to listen to stuff like this but while I am out Chris seems to listen to a lot of Taylor Swift and Lights :P

Great jams! Hard to pick just 5! Probably something by the Beatles, something from Songs Ohia... Some upbeat Motown would definitely be in there too.
