DIY Christmas…part 2: Beautiful Christmas Mantle

It’s done! I knew as soon as I got started on both the old window and the nutcrackers that I would be doing the mantle the second both dried.

What do you think? It’s the biggest diversion from what I’ve typically done, but I must say I am loving it.

The little red cardinal on the wreath and the vase with my collection of vintage door knobs are two of my favourite details. The nutcrackers were a steal a garage sale a few years ago, I think I paid $1 for the pair, but they weren’t in the best condition. It’s amazing what some paint can do!

I hope you’re inspired to give your Christmas mantle a little something different this year.

Love the minimalist makeover on those nutcrackers, but my favourite element is the spray painted branches. So simple, rustic and glam all the same time! :)

thanks Heather! I did those last year and have loved them ever since. I added little butterflies to them in the spring, it was so pretty:)

I never thought of doorknobs as festive - shows how much I know! This post makes me wish I had a mantle. (Once upon a time, we had a fake fireplace in the basement. It was literally the ugliest thing in the world, so we sledgehammered it.)

That window looks amazing there - great focal point. And those nutcrackers are a steal!
