  • Project Guest Room #TheSequel REVEAL @Alexanians_Com

  •   The guest room is finally done!  Need to review the previous posts to see where we started? click HERE and HERE . I never really thought of myself as a squealer.  You know, one of those girls who makes annoying noises like some tortured chipmunk?  Not me. Until this week.  I squeal every time I walk past the guest room. Every single time. Yes, the paint looks fabulous.  Yes, [...]
  • How to paint & upholster a bench or ottoman

  • I am just tickled pink with how well this project turned out.  And it took me less than an hour. No joke.  Granted there was time waiting for paint to dry, which as you know....is like waiting for paint to dry.  But otherwise, it was a super simple project with awesome results. All you need is an old bench or ottoman, some spray paint, a staple gun, fabric, and quilt batting. Here's the benc[...]
  • Guest Room Update: The Sequel

  • Yes. It's happening again.  The guest room is getting a makeover.  It was one of the first rooms I tackled when we moved in here, and a few years later was one of the very first blog posts I wrote. Let's take a look back at where we started before the first makeover. Super freakin' UGO! I mean, that wallpaper could induce vomiting.  Which I nearly did scraping all that off the walls. [...]
  • Awesome closet update: Ikea PAX wardrobe six years later

  • Picture it. Sicily, 1922.  Sorry...Golden Girls moment.... ...but this post does start with a look back.  A look back six whole years ago.  It was the year 2010.  As a nation, we were barely Beliebers.  It was a long time ago.  It was back when DH and I installed our PAX closet. At the time we were both working full time in office jobs. Shirts, blouses, skirts, pants, suits, and all the othe[...]
  • Simple DIY Wizard Wands

  • What's not to love about Harry Potter? I remember reading the books while I was in university, and after finishing each book passed it on to my BFF.  Which was even easier than you'd think to do since we lived in such a crappy old house with uneven floors that I could lift my feet up sitting at my desk chair and roll right out of my room, across the hall and into her room.  Ah, university life:) [...]
  • Easy home refresher: painting trim and baseboards

  • Glorious fresh white trim and baseboards.  Is there anything nicer? Okay, yes there is like new shoes on a visa you don't pay for...but still you get my drift.  Fresh white trim is still quite awesome. And truly the most efficient way to almost instantly spiffy up your home. It's been five years since the hallway got painted, and the baseboards were a little worse for wear.  Between a hu[...]
  • Life lately: mini projects & Fall prep

  • I feel like it been forever since writing a post! Although I do admit, going from complete master bedroom makeover, to bar cart, to dining room buffet I'm a bit worn out.  Me and my power tools and paint brushes needed a teeny tiny break. Not that I really took a break.... Fall means our winter wood order arrives.....which means I get to move and stack a full face cord of wood:)  Check out m[...]
  • White and gold bar cart makeover

  • Fresh and bright white and gold spray paint... These are a few of my favourite things. This bar cart makeover is definitely up there as one of my faves.  It was very easy, although at times annoying. All. that. hardware.  Ugh. But I survived, and now we have a fancy bar cart to pour our (well deserved) drinks from. I found the cart at a barn sale last summer for only $40.  It's Bombay C[...]
  • Project: Master Bedroom Part 2 {side tables}

  • The master bedroom project is coming along swimmingly.  The painting is all done, the curtain rods have been hung, and a few pieces of art have been hung.  I have yet to make the curtains, and figure out a closet 'door-type' situation.  But it definitely coming along! In the meantime, I am so pleased with our re-made side tables.  I picked the warmest gooey-ist white called Melted Marshmallow[...]
  • Project: Master Bedroom Part 1

  • Excellent news! The attic voyage was a success. I was crazy nervous, but successfully went where no Heather has gone before.  And I'm delighted to report, there was nothing interesting to find.  Any homeowner knows the sweet relief that comes with this discovery. I strapped a video camera to my head and made a video to bring you along on my adventure. And after discovering the attic had [...]
