  • DIY Reupholstery Project: Louis XV Chair

  • It's going to be no surprise I am fond of tackling projects regardless of my current skill set:) Part of the beauty of a 'can-do' attitude is learning as you go. Learning from both successes and mistakes. And this project was full of both! I have a significantly deeper appreciation for those who reupholster for a living. I had no illusions this would be an easy project. That said, man am I [...]
  • The List

  • We made a list. A big, grown-up list. A list of things that need to get done around our house (or property). On the list are relatively minor tasks like; 'paint bathroom pipe', and major ones, like 'build new shed'. All require time, most require cash money. Oh the pains of being a grown-up! Being me, and generally sitting on the positive side of the fence, I saw some opportunities to paint, to [...]
  • Ooops...I did it again:)

  • Ooops...I did it again. I painted something. It was an impromptu project. On Saturday I did two things clearly marking it as Spring...I turned off the furnace and I changed the doors over from glass to screen. Except halfway through I decided the back door was ugly and should be painted. So I painted it. And it looks SOOO much better! ps. It's the same heavy duty black flooring pai[...]
  • PARA Paints Kitchen re-vamp project update

  • Three weeks ago five fabulous gallons of PARA paint arrived and I was itching to get started on the kitchen re-vamp project ....sadly, that little thing that pays my mortgage - you know, those pesky job thingys? well, it got in the way as I had to head away for work. Flash forward to today, and yet again I'm packing up and headed away for work. And yet again, I'm just ITCHING to get finished. I[...]
  • Mona Lisa #Selfie {an art project}

  • I just finished a super fun (and easy art project) for a friend and I am hesitant to let it go, I love it so much! A few weeks ago while out to lunch with my friend Isabelle, she asked me if I was up for a project. Naturally, my answer was YES!! When Isabelle bought her house, she found this Mona Lisa print in her basement. When I started to pull apart the frame, matting, and print, I discove[...]
  • My weekend in photos

  • This past weekend was lovely. It was also a long one. That makes it particularly lovely. The weekend started with this stunning rainbow. You could see the whole arc, the entire beautiful rainbow going from one side of our town to the other. This photo doesn't do it justice at all. But I do love the old barn. I love old barns. On Saturday afternoon I was lucky enough to join the h[...]
  • Project Staircase (also why I love blogs)

  • Last winter I painted the hallway. And by hallway I mean the entire first floor main entrance, the staircase up to the second floor, and the entire second floor hallway. Basically, every ‘common’ area that isn’t a room. I’ll share some pics of that project later, because it was quite the process. I’m a bit pressed for time this week because I leave for Japan on Saturday! JAPAN! So excited. More to[...]
